Christmas shopping

We're going to IKEA this afternoon to get the "bare necessities" for Christmas decorating our apartment. YEAY! I love to cozy up in the couch when everything is bright and shimmery.

news on the book shelf

When I was at Gatwick waiting for my flight to Oslo I had an urge for something to read that I haven't had in a very long time. I guess it is what can happen when you've been a student for so long that having to read anything means work, and it is hard to associate it with enjoyment. But now that my studies are behind me - hopefully for good, my passion for reading seem to be back. At WH Smith they had a 4 for 3 offer so I figured - why not? Here are the books I bought.

I've just started with Kate Pickett's The Spirit Level, and so far it is very interesting.

Oslo Nostalgia

my lips

I forgot my "can't live without"-product at home - Mentholatum. Anyone who knows our family knows that we all use this on our lips to avoid them cracking. But now I'm in cold cold Norway and I don't have it - it is a catastrophe!

I've been using lipsyl, lotions, creams, all kinds of things but nothing helps like Mentholatum. It will be the first thing I'll do when I get back home (maybe the second thing after giving A a kiss - it doesn't taste so good).

If you haven't seen it before it is almost like a vapour rub but better.

UPDATE: I bought something called Carmex - it works pretty well but it is a bit too sticky and oily for my taste. I was so happy when I got back and put on some Mentholatum.

Ting Tings

I just kicked some serious butt in the gym here in the hotel. 1h45min on the treadmill jogging/running non-stop (except for a quick run to the bathroom). Watched the last movie in the millenium trilogy (love those movies) so I didn't get bored and was able to keep going. I feel so proud now. I'm hoping to keep this up until Christmas so I can justify enjoying some of the great food that's always served.

Only problem now is if I'll be able to sleep. I'm still high on energy!

Barbra Streisand

I'm trying to figure out my schedule and when I can meet with the people I know here in Oslo without clashing with our appointments with clients.

I am really looking forward to seeing Anna o Eivind sometime this week. It has to happen!

free your mind

I'm in bed at the hotel but I can't fall asleep. I guess it is because I slept in until midday today. So now I've been checking the Glee songlist and finding some good tunes.

I need to sleep now though so i can make it up early enough tomorrow to be able to enjoy the hotel breakfast :) yum!

with my grandmother

I'm in Oslo and it is snowing outside - it looks amazing. And I am inside drinking hot chocolate and eating "lomper" with my grandmother. It is so nice being here. I slept in this morning until 11am. My excuse is the time difference (of 1 hour).

Hipp Hipp

Yesterday we watched Morgan PÄlsson - World Reporter, a cheesy Swedish movie that is
quite funny. However these guys are at their best in their comedy show Hipp Hipp. And after watching the movie yesterday I want to get all their shows on DVD so now that is on my Christmas list:

£19.99 on Amazon.

ouch

My legs are in so much pain today. My personal trainer had me squatting here and there for about 40min. Goodness, I can barely get out of this chair without falling on the floor. We did legs last time as well and i was still sore from that when we started yesetrday but my PT decided that I wasn't worn out enough. Apparently because my feet are pronated (I lean inwards on my feet) I apparently compensate for that in my knees. So he had me doing squats and other awkward movements on the bosu ball - it forced my feet into the "right" position.

Since I'm going to Norway I won't be meeting with him for a while now. I will try to make sure to spend some time on the treadmill at the hotel.

candy man

Since I'm going to Norway on Friday (business), I've asked our sales rep Peter to buy some things from Sweden. Cheese, gingerbread dough, caviar, and of course candy. It does make the business trip a tad more exciting :)

the last to know

I must be the last person in England to know that prince William and Katie are now engaged. They are getting married summer 2011. How exciting! I love weddings, even royal once where you don't really know the people. I can imagine that it will be a bit overexposed in the media and that we will get sick of hearing about them eventually, but weddins are so lovely. I'm already considering going to london on the day to see them.

William gave her his mother's (princess Diana) engagement ring.

Mr Eco Hero

I have almost forgotten to write about our little Pride of Bracknell experience. It is almost two weeks ago now that I and Andreas were invited to a three course meal at the Grange Hotel in Bracknell together with a bunch of rich and upper class Bracknell inhabitants. Andreas had been nominated for an award by Newbold College's principal and we were told that he was one of the finalists.

We had a great time there with good food, fun dining friends (who did get a bit too much wine by the end of the evening and started arguing about Tesco and Waitrose and social responsibility), and Andreas did receive an award!

I'm so proud of him!

He was so nervous that he would win because he thought he would have to have a thank you speech, but luckily for him the programme was already running long and he just had to walk up, receive the award and let them take a picture of him.

Now the award is standing above the fire place (oh how I wish we coulda ctually use the fire place) so I can mention it everytime we have visitors at the embarasement of Andreas :)

updated layout

I finally took the time to update the website, new colours, new header, all the widgets in place (Twitter, facebook, LinkWithin, etc) and I've figured out how to put the "archive" and "about us" in the header. At first I was thinking to maybe make it a bit Christmas-y, and maybe I will when December comes now that I've finally figured out how to do it all.

How do you like it?
